Interventional Cardiology

Advanced, Minimally Invasive Heart & Vascular Care At Oracle Heart & Vascular

Interventional cardiology focuses on diagnosing and treating heart and vascular disease using catheter-based, minimally invasive procedures rather than open surgery. These advanced techniques allow physicians to restore blood flow, repair structural heart problems and support heart function with shorter recovery times and reduced risk for many patients.

At Oracle Heart & Vascular, our interventional cardiology team provides comprehensive evaluation and a full range of advanced procedures to treat complex cardiovascular conditions and improve long-term heart health.

What Is Interventional Cardiology?

Interventional cardiology is a specialized branch of cardiology focused on diagnosing and treating heart and vascular conditions using minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures rather than open surgery. Guided by advanced imaging, our interventional cardiology team uses thin tubes called catheters to access blood vessels and the heart to open blocked arteries, repair structural heart problems, remove clots and more to support heart function. These techniques often result in less pain and faster recovery and are performed in our very own Oracle Procedural Suite whenever possible.

Conditions Our Interventional Cardiology Services Treat

Our interventional cardiologists treat a wide range of cardiovascular and vascular conditions. These treatments are highly effective for the following:

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Chronic Venous Insufficiency occurs when the veins in the legs cannot effectively return blood back to the heart. When vein valves weaken or fail, blood pools in the legs, leading to increased pressure and progressive symptoms. It can cause leg or ankle swelling, heaviness, aching, fatigue and more. Without treatment, CVI can worsen over time and increase your risk of venous ulcers. Early evaluation helps prevent complications and disease progression.

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)

Heart failure means the heart cannot pump blood efficiently, leading to symptoms such as shortness of breath, swelling, fatigue and reduced exercise tolerance.

Peripheral Artery & Venous Disease

Blocked or damaged blood vessels in the legs and veins from PAD and venous disease can cause pain, swelling, non-healing wounds and clot-related complications.

Diagnostic Procedures

Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of effective interventional cardiology treatment. Our team performs advanced catheter-based testing, including:

  • Left And Right Heart Catheterization: These procedures measure pressures inside the heart and evaluate blood flow through coronary arteries and heart chambers, helping diagnose blockages, valve disease and heart failure severity.

  • Peripheral Angiography: Contrast imaging of arteries and veins in the arms, legs or abdomen identify blockages, narrowing or abnormal blood flow patterns.

Coronary Interventions

When coronary artery disease limits blood flow to the heart, minimally invasive coronary interventions can restore circulation and relieve symptoms. Our providers utilize advanced intravascular imaging and physiologic pressure measurements to precisely evaluate blockages and tailor treatment for the safest and most effective results. Treatments may include balloon angioplasty to open narrowed arteries, stent placement to keep vessels open, atherectomy to remove hardened plaque and thrombectomy to remove clots in urgent situations.

Peripheral Interventions

Peripheral vascular disease can limit mobility and impair wound healing when blood flow to the legs or veins is reduced. Our interventional team offers minimally invasive treatments such as peripheral angioplasty and stenting to open blocked arteries, atherectomy to remove plaque from narrowed vessels, venous stenting to relieve vein obstructions that cause swelling and pain and peripheral thrombectomy to remove large clots and quickly restore circulation.

Advanced Cardiac Support

We may recommend temporary mechanical support for patients who may need it. These kinds of interventions might be necessary for patients with severe heart failure, after a heart attack or during undergoing a high-risk heart procedure. Examples include:

Catheter ablation treats abnormal heart rhythms by targeting and destroying small areas of heart tissue responsible for irregular electrical signals. It is commonly used for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT and other arrhythmias, often reducing or eliminating the need for long-term medications.

This helps the heart pump more effectively by improving blood flow and reducing workload.

This small heart pump supports circulation during high-risk procedures or severe heart failure.

ECMO provides temporary heart and lung support in life-threatening situations while underlying conditions are treated.
