Introducing Ramakota Reddy, MD, FACC, FHRS: Oracle Heart & Vascular’s New Cardiac Electrophysiologist

Oracle Heart & Vascular is excited to welcome an accomplished new member to our growing team: Dr. Ramakota Reddy, a board certified cardiac electrophysiologist with a rich background in medicine, engineering and patient-centered care. Dr. Reddy will officially be joining our practice in May 2025, bringing with him decades of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. We are thrilled to offer his specialized services to our patients and community.

A Lifelong Journey of Learning and Service

Dr. Ramakota Reddy’s academic and professional path reflects an exceptional commitment to both science and service. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) with a minor in computer science from the University of Iowa. His keen interest in the interface between technology and biology led him to pursue a medical degree at the prestigious Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

His training continued in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a Captain while completing his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Wilford Hall Air Force Base. He then went on to complete a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington, followed by a Cardiac Clinical Electrophysiology Fellowship at the same institution, completing his subspecialty training.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Ramakota Reddy has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being a National Merit Scholar, a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies and a recipient of a North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology Research Fellowship. He is also a proud member of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society.

A Unique Blend of Medicine, Engineering, and Problem-Solving

Dr. Ramakota Reddy was drawn to cardiac electrophysiology because it uniquely combines his love of engineering, clinical medicine and problem-solving. His areas of clinical focus include catheter ablation, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, and the management of all types of cardiac rhythm disorders. Whether it’s using cutting-edge 3D mapping to diagnose complex arrhythmias or optimizing the programming of life-saving devices, Dr. Ramakota Reddy is deeply passionate about improving patients’ quality of life through precision care.

One of his favorite parts of the job is, as he puts it, “making people better.” Sometimes that means curing a problem with a procedure, other times it’s about educating and reassuring patients. Regardless of the situation, Dr. Ramakota Reddy believes strongly in collaborative, informed decision-making. “All medical decisions should be joint decisions between the patient and doctor,” he says. “That means making sure patients truly understand their condition, treatment options and what to expect.”

A New Chapter on the East Coast

Originally born in Canada to parents who had emigrated from India, Dr. Ramakota Reddy spent much of his early life on the East Coast—living in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey—before ultimately settling in Iowa, where he attended college. After more than two decades of practice in Oregon, Dr. Reddy is excited to return to his East Coast roots and begin a new chapter here in Virginia.

“It’s going to be a new adventure,” he shares. “I don’t know what my favorite thing about this area will be yet—maybe the history, maybe the climate and natural beauty—but I know it will certainly be the people and colleagues. And it will be wonderful to be closer to family.”

Dr. Ramakota Reddy is married and has one daughter who is now settling down in Virginia as well. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, computer programming, bicycling and playing poker—a true renaissance man with a deep appreciation for both science and leisure.
